The Power of Marketing (Things that go unnoticed)

The Power of Marketing (Things that go unnoticed)

In simplest of forms- marketing is putting a magnifying glass on what is being sold and offered and building a desire for someone to buy that product or service.

Can marketing be deceitful?

The Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight had marketing tactics of throwing around words like "KO" or "I will knock him out!" then in the press conference the days leading up to it they are shown barely being able to keep their hands off of eachother.

At times- things are exaggerated for a marketing perspective especially when it involves the show biz.

Remember when actors that play being in love on-screen are interviewed in real life repeatedly on whether or not there is some truth behind that chemistry?

Marketing is a way of life that cannot be escaped.

Take nutrition labels- as a protein intake focused individual I was looking for a healthy protein packed snack the other day. In the refrigerator section I came across some salami and cheddar cheese. The front of the label said 19G of protein I thought GREAT! Then when I read the back, there was 27G of fat. With a surplus of fat compared to protein I ended up not purchasing this snack.

Then there is manipulative imagery- we see a photo of a delicious looking burger from a fast food place and when we order the burger it looks nothing like the photos. Those are taken with fake food most of the time.

How much can we trust on the internet?

Today there are catfish more than ever with editing apps enabling people to alter their faces and bodies. This goes to show whether a business or person everyone wants to put their best foot forward.

The biggest takeaway is it's best for businesses and people to not be deceptive and for consumers and individuals to be more aware.
